So here’s the thing… I did everything I was supposed to do to be happy and successful. I went to college (grad school even), easily landed jobs, moved up the Corporate Ladder… Got married. Had some kids. I can’t say I was unhappy, I LOVED my job. But after having kids, I started to lose my passion fast! I was no longer interested in being the CEO of a large company (because really, with kids, who has time for that?). In my very limited spare time, I had two main hobbies, dressing my kids and finding great deals so that I could afford to dress my kids. I ran several Facebook BST boards for brands I loved and I frequently shared my deal finds there. About 4 years ago, someone said the magic words “You should really start a blog”. Shortly thereafter, Kids Steals & Deals was born. I knew NOTHING about blogs. I didn’t even know how to even set one up. I googled and googled and googled. I can’t say that I used any specific resource to point me in the right direction. To be honest, even when I googled, I never quite found what needed. I leveraged my social media to grow a following. I applied for affiliate programs. I started a Facebook group. I am NOT going to sit here an tell you that you can easily make $10K a month as a blogger, though it’s definitely possible. For the first 3.5 years, I worked both my “real job” and blogged (a lot). What I can tell you is that over the past 4 years I have learned how to build a blog. I have learned how to successfully build a following on social media. I can help you navigate the blogging world to build the best blog you can (and share it with the world). People blog for a variety of reasons. Some simply want to keep friends and family updated and document their families as they grow. Others want to share their opinions (about all sorts of stuff). Often people have a talent or skill that they want to share with others. There are blogs that are built as a hobby and there are blogs that are built to make money. Whatever your purpose is, I hope that my advice points you in the right direction and helps you build the blog of your dreams!
